Paro Therapeutic Robot

PARO is an advanced interactive robot developed by AIST, a leading Japanese industrial automation pioneer. It allows the documented benefits of animal therapy to be administered to patients in environments such as hospitals and extended care facilities where live animals present treatment or logistical difficulties.

* Paro has been found to reduce patient stress and their caregivers
* Paro stimulates interaction between patients and caregivers
* Paro has been shown to have a Psychological effect on patients, improving thier relaxation and motivation
* Paro improves the socialiazation of patients with each other and with caregivers
* World’s Most Therapeutic Robot certified by Guinness World Records

Paro is the 8th generation of a design that has been in use in Japan and throughout Europe since 2003.

Paro has five kinds of sensors: tactile, light, audition, temperature, and posture sensors, with which it can perceive people and its environment. With the light sensor, Paro can recognize light and dark. He feels being stroked and beaten by tactile sensor, or being held by the posture sensor. Paro can also recognize the direction of voice and words such as its name, greetings, and praise with its audio sensor.

Paro can learn to behave in a way that the user prefers, and to respond to its new name. For example, if you stroke it every time you touch it, Paro will remember your previous action and try to repeat that action to be stroked. If you hit it, Paro remembers its previous action and tries not to do that action.

By interaction with people, Paro responds as if it is alive, moving its head and legs, making sounds, and showing your preferred behavior. Paro also imitates the voice of a real baby harp seal.

While i was recovering music files from Brian Welch’s late 2009 17″ Macbook pro, the ex member of KORN, strums a few chords on my Paulele Soprano Bamboo Ukulele. Brian’s internal hard drive was indeed, Paralyzed, corrupted and on the verge of dying. I quickly ran apple’s utility program could not fix the issue, nor could Disk Warrior. I did manage to recover the music files Brian so desperately needed and transfer his recordings to another external 230GB hard drive for latter editing. Brian thanked me for Milagro Mac’s music recovery service.

Taylor Announces The Plain White T’s

Posted by mac press on January 6, 2011

Taylor Announces the Plain White T’s, Barenaked Ladies, Night Ranger, Coheed and Cambria and more as 2011 NAMM Acts

EL CAJON, Calif. – January 5, 2011 – Ahead of the 2011 NAMM Winter convention in Anaheim, California, Taylor Guitars has assembled an all-star artist lineup to perform over three days of the annual trade show, held January 13-16. An eclectic array of acts will play on Taylor’s performance stage starting each day at 2:00 p.m.

Kicking things off on Thursday is the Japanese rocker duo of Yoshiyuki Sahashi and Hirokazu Ogura, better known as Yamagen, who will play an acoustic set of their melodic compositions. Next up will be hit-makers, the Plain White T’s, fresh off the release of their sixth album, Wonders of the Younger, featuring the hit single, “Rhythm of Love.” Closing out the day will be longtime Taylor signature artist and dynamic fingerstylist Doyle Dykes, who will debut a new signature model, the Doyle Deluxe.

Friday will see indie rockers The Airborne Toxic Event, followed by a hit-filled acoustic set from Ed Robertson and Kevin Hearn of Barenaked Ladies, and then a hard-rocking performance from Night Ranger, who’ll crank up classic hits like “You Can Still Rock in America” and “Sister Christian.”

Saturday starts with the heavy riffing of Knoxville-based 10 Years. The band will strip their signature metal sound down to an acoustic set that will feature their radio chart-toppers “Wasteland” and “Beautiful,” along with other tunes from their third studio album, Feeding the Wolves. Next up is worship leader, recording artist, songwriter and producer Israel Houghton. Mixing contemporary blues with rock, pop and soulful gospel and worship, Houghton just released his tenth album, Love God. Love People. The show will close with an energetic acoustic set from Claudio Sanchez and Travis Stever of the prog-rock powerhouse Coheed and Cambria.

All artist performances and times are subject to change. For the most current lineup of performers and to experience Taylor’s 2011 line of acoustic and electric guitars during the NAMM show, please visit the Taylor Guitars room on the second floor of the Anaheim Convention Center, Room 213ABC.
